Coast Guard extends Anchorage firm's contracts $2.2 million through January

The U.S. Coast Guard has added about $2.24 million to two administrative support contracts it awarded Koniag Management Solutions LLC without competition in 2021, covering facilities maintenance and logistical support through Jan. 31, 2027.

Records posted to USAspending.gov between Sept. 1 and Sept. 4 show $1.72 million for a five-month extension (70Z03826FS0000038), $515,000 to extend what the contract calls "option period 4," the fourth renewal year the Coast Guard can exercise (70Z03826FS0000037), and $2,000 for travel tied to a "Logistician III" position (70Z03826FS0000039), a mid-level supply and transport planner.

The work is performed at Coast Guard facilities in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Anchorage is where the company is registered, not where the work happens.

Both parent contracts are coded "8(a) sole source," meaning the Coast Guard awarded them directly under a Small Business Administration program for disadvantaged small businesses rather than taking bids. Each drew a single offer. The three September actions were not competed either. The two contracts have obligated about $25.4 million since July 2021.

Koniag Management Solutions is an Alaska Native corporation-owned firm and an SBA-certified small disadvantaged business. It is scheduled to leave the 8(a) portion of the General Services Administration's Multiple Award Schedule, a pre-negotiated catalog agencies buy from, on Feb. 26, 2030.

The records carry no comment from the Coast Guard or the company.
