Koniag takes board candidates to nine communities before proxy voting closes

Koniag will take its board candidates to nine communities in September, including three outside the Kodiak region, so shareholders can question them before proxy voting closes.

Six stops are on Kodiak Island: Akhiok and Old Harbor on Sept. 9, Larsen Bay and the city of Kodiak on Sept. 10, and Ouzinkie and Port Lions on Sept. 11.

Three more are outside the region. The corporation goes to Seattle on Sept. 22, Portland on Sept. 23 and Soldotna on Sept. 24, reaching shareholders who cannot readily fly to Anchorage for the annual meeting. Specific times and venues are in the shareholder notice.

Three board seats are up. The Annual Meeting of Shareholders is Oct. 3 at the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage, opening with an Alutiiq dance performance.

Koniag said in its Aug. 21 notice that the town halls let shareholders learn more about the corporation, hear from board candidates, ask questions and share stories. It ran similar circuits in 2024 and 2025.

Proxy voting ends at 5 pm Alaska time Sept. 30. Proxies submitted by 5 pm Sept. 4 are entered for early bird prizes of up to $3,000. Annual reports and proxy packets are posted on the My Koniag shareholder portal, and shareholders who cannot attend can watch the meeting live there.
