Kodiak Island Borough Assembly cancels work session for lack of a quorum

The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly canceled its Thursday work session for lack of a quorum, putting off a planned review of next year's meeting calendar.

The borough posted the cancellation Thursday, hours before the 6:30 pm start. Work sessions are informal, and the Assembly takes no formal action at them.

The agenda also included early looks at proposed rules for meeting recesses and borough boards, a one-year contract with Matson Navigation Company to ship recycled metals and a new utility vehicle for the Women's Bay Fire Department.

The 2027 calendar is scheduled for final approval Oct. 15.

At its Sept. 10 work session, the Assembly unanimously decided against counting members who attend remotely toward a quorum, and remote participation remains capped at three members per meeting. Member Bo Whiteside said he wanted "to maintain a physical quorum."
