Kenai hunter education class opens registration Sept. 10, $29 for 20 seats
Twenty seats in a $29 hunter education class in Kenai go on sale Sept. 10 at 9 a.m., for a five-hour session the Alaska Department of Fish and Game will hold Saturday, Oct. 24, from noon to 5 p.m. at Snowshoe Gun Club on Shotgun Drive.
That session is the field day, half the course. Students must first finish a $19.95 online course and register with the qualifier number it issues. Registration runs through the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman events page.
The class is listed under that program, which the department says targets women but welcomes men. "This course provides training in firearms safety, wildlife conservation, and respect for our natural resources, landowners, and other hunters," the department said in its announcement.
Registration is already open for a separate Kenai class, an eight-hour, $100 wilderness first aid session Sept. 12 with 11 spots left.
