Kake advisory committee holds elections Aug. 26 and takes up 2027-2028 fisheries proposals

Any resident of the area who attends and is of legal voting age **may make nominations and vote** when the Kake fish and game advisory committee meets Aug. 26, according to the public notice. The committee will hold member elections and discuss Board of Fisheries proposals for the 2027-2028 cycle.

The meeting starts at 3:30 p.m. at the Organized Village of Kake Office, 541 Keku Rd. The committee holds 15 undesignated seats and **meets once or twice a year**. Its jurisdiction covers the Southeastern Alaska Area for finfish and Game Management Units 1B, 1C, 2, 3 and 4.

Nearly every household in Kake relies on subsistence salmon, and about 60 percent take part in harvesting it, according to Alaska Department of Fish and Game household surveys. Questions go to regional coordinator Annie Bartholomew at 907-465-4046.
