Juneau's winter recreation pass goes on sale at $250, up $50 from last season
Juneau Parks & Recreation put its all-ages Winter Pass on sale Sunday at $250 plus tax, up $50 before tax from last season's $200 plus tax.
The pass covers unlimited public sessions at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center, Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool, Treadwell Arena, Dimond Park Field House, Marie Drake Gym and Floyd Dryden Gym through March 31, 2027. It also includes Open Gym, a new program at Marie Drake.
The city raised the price during its fiscal 2027 budget process. The department said the change, like its other fee increases, reflects higher operational expenses and reduced city general funding. Those department-wide increases took effect July 1 and were the first significant jump since 2021, according to a June city announcement.
The proposed budget counted on $2.5 million in additional general-fund revenue from user fees. The Assembly adopted the budget June 8, including cuts to the Parks & Recreation landscaping budget. Alaska News reported July 4 that a $75,000 cut eliminated brushing on city trails this fiscal year.
In the 2026 municipal election, voters approved a new 1% seasonal sales tax for recreation. The city will begin collecting it April 1, 2027.
The Winter Pass is sold online and at participating facilities through Jan. 31. Passes are issued to individuals and are non-transferable and non-refundable, with no refunds or extensions for facility closures. All passes expire April 1, 2027.
