Hilcorp seeks 50 megawatts of new power at Milne Point

Hilcorp wants to install roughly 50 megawatts of new power generation at its Milne Point field on the North Slope — the kind of buildout that supports a much bigger operation.

The company has asked state regulators to approve three dual-fuel turbines at Z Pad, each rated at 16,530 kilowatts, along with a fourth installed and removed during phased construction, four fuel tanks holding a combined 184,800 gallons, and a 1,000-kilowatt emergency generator. The Department of Environmental Conservation has preliminarily approved the air permit.

The scale fits the direction Hilcorp has been taking Milne Point, where it has sought approval in recent years to expand pads and drill dozens of additional wells.

Under the draft permit, the site's yearly emissions would be capped at about 267 tons of nitrogen oxides, 170 tons of carbon monoxide, and 89 tons of sulfur dioxide.
