Gunfire reports in Nondalton ended in an arrest on eight charges

Reports of gunfire in Nondalton on the morning of Friday, Sept. 4 brought Alaska State Troopers and Bristol Bay Borough Police in from King Salmon. They arrested Cordelle Balluta-Trefon, 22.

Investigators say he also broke into a home and took property from it. He faces eight charges: first-degree burglary and third-degree assault, both felonies, and misdemeanor counts of theft, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. The assault charge alleges he put someone in fear of injury with a weapon.

He also faces three counts of violating conditions of release, meaning he was already under court supervision at the time.

The charges are accusations and Balluta-Trefon is presumed innocent. He was arraigned Sept. 6 and given a public defender. His next hearing is 1:15 pm Sept. 15 in Naknek.
