Fairbanks man wanted on kidnapping, assault charges caught after foot chase
A monthlong search for a Fairbanks man wanted on kidnapping and sexual assault charges ended Wednesday when Alaska State Troopers caught Kyle Curtin after a foot chase near Farewell Street.
The Criminal Suppression Unit located Curtin Wednesday morning. When troopers moved to contact him, he rode off on a bicycle. Troopers pursued him on foot and took him into custody near Farewell Street. Curtin is now held at Fairbanks Correctional Center on $100,000 cash performance bail.
The warrant, issued by a Fairbanks court on June 11, 2026, carried five charges: kidnapping, assault in the second degree, sexual assault in the third degree, vehicle theft in the first degree, and assault in the fourth degree. The warrant itself also carried a $100,000 cash performance bail requirement.
Troopers had previously arrested Curtin in Fairbanks on Nov. 11, 2025, on charges of vehicle theft and misconduct involving weapons in the third degree, according to the Alaska State Troopers Daily Dispatch. He was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center on that occasion as well.
All charges are accusations. As Alaska State Troopers note, "Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty."
