Cordova's Streets Department closed the corner of 4th Street and Browning Avenue on Thursday, Nov. 5, to repair the road.

The Cordova Police Department posted the closure notice on Facebook Thursday morning, headed "ROAD CLOSURE TODAY." It asked people to "plan accordingly for the road closure while they complete the work." The notice gave no duration, reopening time or detour.

About an hour earlier, police said the Water Department would shut off the water main to repair "a leak on W. Davis and 4th Street," with work scheduled from 9 am to 6 pm that day. Residential water on 3rd and 4th streets could be affected, the post said, but the shutoff was expected to be momentary and no more than an hour. Neither post connects the two jobs.

The corner has seen other recent work. The city closed Fourth Street from Browning Avenue to Council Avenue starting Oct. 29 to dig up and fix a separate water leak, its Oct. 28 notice says. That notice, signed by Public Works Director Kevin Johnson, sent drivers to Davis Avenue as a detour and gave no reopening date. The Davis Avenue detour applied to that closure, not to Thursday's.

As of Friday evening, the city had posted no notice of the latest closure on its public notices page, where the Oct. 28 Fourth Street notice was still the newest.
