Cook Inlet Tribal Council sets ARCTIC certification exam for Oct. 2 in Anchorage

Job seekers can take two free career sessions in Anchorage at Cook Inlet Tribal Council, 3600 San Jeronimo Drive: an entrepreneurship course on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 3:15 p.m., and the ARCTIC certification exam on Friday, Oct. 2, from 2 to 3 p.m.

ARCTIC, short for Alaska Readiness and Career Training for Indigenous Communities, is the council's soft-skills credential (workplace skills such as communication). CITC says it prepares participants with "the core soft skills Alaska employers expect, grounded in cultural values and real-world application." The exam follows eight CITC certification courses; the credential covers five areas: Respect, Resilience, Interdependence, Accountability and Leadership. Thursday's course, Entrepreneurial Endeavors, frames business ownership "as a meaningful pathway to independence, leadership, and financial stability."
