Filing for four Bethel city council seats closes at 4 p.m. Thursday, the last chance to get on the ballot for the city's Oct. 6 municipal election.

The city's Declaration of Candidacy page says, "There are four city council seats up for election with terms ending in October 2028." Ranked choice voting does not apply to Bethel city elections.

The filing period opened at 8 a.m. Aug. 5. Candidates deliver a declaration of candidacy to the City Clerk's Office at City Hall, 300 Chief Eddie Hoffman Highway. To qualify, a candidate must be a qualified voter of the state of Alaska, at least 18, and a Bethel resident for the year immediately preceding filing.
