Assembly to vote on $12,200 more for Loussac theater's sound and video upgrade
The Anchorage Assembly is scheduled to vote Nov. 4 on moving up to $12,200 from the library's 2026 operating budget to finish upgrading the audio-visual equipment in the Wilda Marston Theatre at Loussac Library.
The theater's current setup "has reached its end of life," according to an administration memo. It describes the theater as a popular rental space that brings in money for the library.
The library set aside $30,000 for the upgrade in 2024 and $5,000 in 2025. With this third request, based on updated estimates, the total would reach as much as $47,200. The library plans to update and relocate the theater's equipment, the resolution says.
Mayor Suzanne LaFrance's administration recommends approval. The money would move from the library's day-to-day budget into the theater project in its capital budget.
