Anchorage considers naming Northeast Connector Trail after Karen Bronga

Anchorage may name a trail for Karen Bronga, the former Assembly member killed in a highway crash last month. The city's Public Naming Commission will consider renaming the Northeast Connector Trail at Centennial Park the "Karen Bronga Northeast Connector Trail" at a hearing Sept. 9.

Bronga, 64, of Anchorage, was killed in a head-on crash near Cooper Landing on July 24, when a pickup crossed into her lane on the Sterling Highway and struck the motorhome she was riding in, Alaska State Troopers said.

The commission will take public testimony at the 4 pm hearing at City Hall, and residents can also comment remotely or in writing through Sept. 10.
