Alaska schedules three-day guide-outfitter exam sequence in December

Alaska big game guides and outfitters seeking a registered guide-outfitter license have a three-day exam sequence scheduled in December, with an application deadline of 5 p.m. on Oct. 26 for the first component.

The Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development's Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing scheduled the Game Management Unit exam for Dec. 8, the Written Exam for Dec. 9, and the Practical Exam for Dec. 10. All three exams begin at 9 a.m. at 550 W. 7th Ave. in Anchorage, in the 12th floor conference room. Candidates for the written and practical exams are instructed to meet on the 15th floor. The Oct. 26 deadline applies to the Game Management Unit exam; notices for the written and practical exams also require submission of a complete application packet to the division.

Becoming a registered guide-outfitter requires passing a qualification exam or demonstrating 25 years of qualifying experience, plus a certification exam for at least one game management unit, along with proof of Alaska hunting and assistant guide experience.
