Alaska classrooms can enter state's Red Ribbon Week door decorating contest through Oct. 31
Alaska classrooms from Pre-K through high school have until Oct. 31 to enter the Alaska Department of Health's third annual Red Ribbon Week Door Decorating Contest. The weeklong observance, held each October, is what the department calls the nation's longest-running drug prevention campaign.
This year's theme asks students to celebrate everyday heroes who lead by example, support others and make healthy, drug-free choices.
Classes decorate a door or classroom space and submit a photo or short video through an online SurveyMonkey form. Each entry must list the school name, grade level or age group, teacher contact information and a short description of the design.
Judges will score creativity, connection to the theme, student involvement and positive impact. The winning door in each age group earns an Amazon gift card. Winners also receive recognition letters from the Department of Health commissioner and may be featured on department social media.
