Alaska kids can draw their way into the health department's bookmark contest

Young Alaskans have a new reason to break out the crayons: the state health department is asking kids ages 3 to 18 to draw what being a "Health Hero" means to them, in its second annual bookmark art challenge.

The theme is how you make healthy choices every day — eating colorful fresh foods, staying active, helping others, getting good sleep, or taking deep breaths when you have big feelings. One winning design from each age group gets professionally printed and mailed to the artist's school, and the winning artists earn an Amazon gift card for their classroom.
