A Fairbanks firm runs Boston's Moakley Courthouse under a $31.6 million agreement

The John Joseph Moakley federal courthouse sits on Boston Harbor. Keeping it running, every chiller, air handler and door, is the job of a company owned by four small villages on the Koyukuk River in Interior Alaska.

KCORP Technology Services of Fairbanks holds the General Services Administration's full maintenance contract for the building, awarded in 2022 and worth up to $31.6 million over its life. The firm is part of K'oyitl'ots'ina, Limited, the village corporation for Alatna, Allakaket, Hughes and Huslia.

This year's operating payment alone is about $2.6 million. Beneath it run the small jobs, roughly 40 since December: a $176,848 chiller overhaul, $32,266 for air handler coils, $4,470 to clear gulls off the roof.

Two more were added this week. One, $43,111, installs a water filling station on the ninth floor. The other, $11,457, replaced an air conditioning motor that failed and needed emergency attention.

Every KCORP award recorded in that stretch lists Boston as the place the work happens.
