A North Pole dirt bike crash follows a fatal Fairbanks motorcycle wreck

A dirt bike crash in North Pole this week was the interior's second crash involving a two-wheeled vehicle this month — and the one everyone walked away from.

The rider collided with a car at Planters Lane and Hurst Road, was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and was not hospitalized. The driver was unhurt. Troopers are still investigating the cause.

Days earlier, the outcome was worse. A motorcyclist was killed July 25 at Geist and Loftus roads in Fairbanks, in an investigation that remains open.

Motorcycles and dirt bikes leave riders far more exposed than drivers, and the interior's short summer puts them all on the road in the same few weeks.
