“This EFP does not increase bycatch limits. This EFP does not create new changes or new modifications to regulations other than allowing trawl catcher processors under this limited test to donate halibut. It doesn't change camera requirements, doesn't change monitoring requirements, and it's done in compliance and consistency with the Observer Program.”

We worked collaboratively with the Alaska Fishery Science Center, and our application includes some recommendations that they made in order to ensure that there is not conflict with the observer as they undertake their duties. I think it's really important as we look at the CFP to keep in mind a few things. Most importantly, this EFP does not increase bycatch limits. This EFP does not create new changes or new modifications to regulations other than allowing trawl catcher processors under this limited test to donate halibut. It doesn't change camera requirements, doesn't change monitoring requirements, and it's done in compliance and consistency with the Observer Program.
