From the transcript
Our sessions brought together tribal and Alaska Native corporation leaders, elders, subsistence harvesters, youth, natural resource staff, and community members to discuss subsistence and stewardship in their communities. These conversations gave us an opportunity to hear directly from the people who live these issues every day. We heard about the challenges that communities face, the changes people are observing in land and water, the barriers to harvesting, and concerns about current management systems. But we also heard about solutions. People shared ideas about tribal leadership, community-based management, protecting access, strengthening advocacy, and ensuring that younger generations can continue these practices.
