The board supports transitioning from the current property tax structure to a volume tax with a ramp-up period to improve project economics. However, we have concerns with proposal to redistribute tax revenues away from the jurisdictions directed impacted by the project infrastructure. As we understand it, the original intent of the legislation was to improve the likelihood of project development by reducing the overall property tax burden.
