Water is flowing over the Seward Highway in both directions between mile 12.5 and mile 15, Alaska 511 reported about 10:30 am Friday. The flooding is near mile marker 13, north of Seward on the Kenai Peninsula.

The highway remains open, with no full closure reported. Drivers traveling between Seward and Anchorage should still expect water on the pavement through that stretch. Alaska 511 has not said what caused the flooding or how long it will last.

The affected stretch overlaps part of the Seward Highway's crash-prone Safety Corridor, where a reduced 45-mph speed limit was in place between mileposts 14 and 16 in July during roadside cleanup work.

Alaska 511 is telling drivers to use caution, avoid entering flowing water, slow down for highway workers and obey posted traffic signs.

Changes to the alert will post to the Alaska 511 event listing.
