Two transit funding deadlines are open for Alaska providers this fall

Transit providers and human service agencies serving Alaska seniors, riders with disabilities and Mental Health Trust beneficiaries have until 4:30 pm Sept. 18 to file an Intent to Apply for state transportation funding. The Alaska Community Transit Office opened its fiscal 2028 Human Services Transportation grant window Aug. 10.

A separate federal program will award up to five Community Rides grants of $100,000 each, from a $500,000 pool, for projects expanding access to health care, jobs, education, food and social services. Transit providers, tribal transit agencies, local governments and nonprofits with community partners may apply by Oct. 19. Awards are planned for Nov. 15, with pilot projects starting in February 2027.
