Alaska State Troopers activated the Silver Alert system Monday for Karen Igo, a vulnerable adult reported missing from her home in Naukati Bay.

Troopers ask anyone with information about where she is to call the Silver Alert line at 1-855-SILVR99 (1-855-745-8799).

The state's Silver Alert page lists Igo as 65 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 170 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. It says she has been missing since 6:26 pm Sunday, Nov. 1, and gives her last known location as Naukati Bay.

Troopers posted the alert at about 7:20 pm Monday. The alert was still active when the state page was checked at 8:07 pm Monday. A photo of Igo and more information are linked from the trooper dispatch.

A Silver Alert is meant for missing adults who may not be able to get help on their own. The Alaska Silver Alert program defines a vulnerable adult as someone 18 or older who, because of a physical or mental impairment, cannot meet their own needs or seek help without assistance.

Under the state's activation criteria, the missing person must be at least 18, have a qualifying impairment or medical condition and be believed by law enforcement to be in danger of serious harm. There must also be enough description and last-known-location information to help find the person. Only a law enforcement agency in Alaska can start a Silver Alert.

The system is a voluntary partnership among law enforcement, state and local government, and media and broadcasters. The state shares alert descriptions through news releases, email, social media and the 511 transportation system.
