Troopers arrest driver on DUI charge after 105 mph stop near Fairbanks

A 19-year-old driver was arrested Sunday on a driving under the influence charge after Alaska State Troopers saw a vehicle traveling 105 mph and driving erratically on the Richardson Highway near Fairbanks.

The driver showed signs of impairment during the stop and later provided a breath sample showing a positive blood alcohol level, troopers said in dispatch AK26093715, logged under North Pole. The driver was jailed at the Fairbanks Correctional Center without further incident.

The state has not yet filed a charging document, and an arraignment is set for Friday, September 25 at the Fairbanks Courthouse, court records show. An arrest is an accusation, not a finding, and the driver is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
