Three Southcentral villages get visiting primary care this week

Southcentral Foundation has visiting primary care in three villages this week. Dr. Alfred Swanson is in Chenega Bay through Monday, the longest of the three. Dr. Sam Castles is in Nanwalek through Friday. Nurse practitioner Christopher Chronister was listed in Tyonek for Monday only.

Tyonek is the one that shows what these visits are for. Between them the village relies on its Indian Creek Health Clinic and Robert Stephan, its only community health aide, with two more aide positions unfilled. A primary care provider flies in once every two months.

Southcentral Foundation reaches 55 villages in the Anchorage Service Unit by supporting village providers, using telemedicine and sending scheduled on-site teams.
