Teamsters, former Republican senator endorse Kreiss-Tomkins

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins received endorsements this week from Teamsters Local 959 and former Republican state Sen. Lesil McGuire.

Local 959 endorsed Kreiss-Tomkins on Thursday, four months after endorsing Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan in the U.S. Senate race. Political coordinator Patrick Fitzgerald said Kreiss-Tomkins was the only gubernatorial candidate to join Teamsters on a picket line during the school bus strike. The union says it represents more than 5,000 workers.

McGuire endorsed Kreiss-Tomkins Wednesday. She served 16 years in the Legislature as a Republican and sought the Republican nomination for governor this year before her ticket failed to reach the general-election ballot.

The announcements came from the Kreiss-Tomkins campaign and included no responses from the other gubernatorial candidates.
