State takes comment on expanding Western Cook Inlet geophysical survey near Beluga
The Alaska Division of Oil and Gas opened public comment Wednesday on a request from Explor Geoscience USA Inc. to expand survey lines in its Western Cook Inlet 2D geophysical exploration permit.
The work sits about 13 miles northeast of the Beluga airstrip, according to the division's public notice. Lengthening two survey lines would add about 9.7 miles, bringing the survey to 20 miles total, starting in November. The survey's original purpose and activities would not change. Explor's application says crews would set dynamite charges in hand-drilled holes.
