Federal records list a $1.1 million State Department staffing order under two Juneau-based firms
The U.S. Department of State will pay CP Marine LLC of Juneau about $1.14 million for a year of staff support, a federal award record on USAspending.gov shows. The work began Wednesday and runs through Oct. 6, 2027, with options to extend it to October 2030.
A second federal record lists the same order number, signed Sept. 30, for the same amount and dates, under HunaTek System Solutions, another Juneau-based company. Federal rules require unique order numbers. The records do not say which entry is correct.
The order describes its purpose in four words: "STAFF SUPPORT (WHA PDA)." Its funding office is the State Department's Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs. The available award records do not define PDA.
The order would be CP Marine's sixth from the State Department since late July. The largest is an Aug. 11 staff support order for Western Hemisphere Affairs, now worth $1.47 million after positions were added in September. The six orders total about $4.2 million.
All six fall under a 2023 State Department staffing contract the record lists as an 8(a) sole-source award not open to competition. The federal 8(a) program lets certified small disadvantaged businesses receive sole-source contracts. The record names CP Marine's parent company as Goldbelt Inc. and lists CP Marine as an Alaska Native corporation-owned firm.
The U.S. Department of Transportation signed a $428,698 help desk and systems administration order with CP Marine in August. That order runs, with two option years, through September 2029. In April, the Air Force's B-2 program office issued CP Marine four one-year task orders totaling about $4.5 million through the General Services Administration's STARS III contract for 8(a) firms.
CP Marine lists its headquarters at 76 Egan Drive in Juneau.
HunaTek System Solutions received a $1.04 million State Department order for Western Hemisphere Affairs staffing in August.
