Speeding stop on Sterling Highway surfaces Soldotna man wanted on 7 Arizona felonies
Alaska State Troopers arrested a Soldotna man Sunday after a speeding stop on the Sterling Highway revealed an active Arizona felony warrant carrying $50,000 bail.
A trooper on routine patrol near mile marker 143, outside Ninilchik, pulled over a white van for traveling at high speed. The driver, a 41-year-old Soldotna man, was found to have an active warrant out of Navajo County, Arizona.
The warrant covers seven charges: robbery, aggravated shoplifting, possession of dangerous drugs, obstructing a criminal investigation, two counts of second-degree burglary, and one count of third-degree burglary, according to the Alaska Department of Public Safety incident report.
The Navajo County Sheriff's Office confirmed it will extradite him. He was transported to Homer Jail following his arrest.
All charges are accusations. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
