Sitka Planning Office closes to the public Sept. 8-11

Permit applicants and residents with zoning questions in Sitka will wait until the following week for answers. The Sitka Planning Office closes to the public Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 11.

Staff will spend those four days on internal work. "During this time, the office will focus on long-term projects, including code updates and land management actions," the city said in a public service announcement issued Aug. 25.

The closure covers walk-ins at 100 Lincoln St. and responses by phone and email. Those who call 907-747-1814 or write [email protected] during the closure can expect a reply the following week, according to the announcement.

Monday, Sept. 7, is an observed municipal holiday, so the office will be unavailable for five consecutive weekdays. Parks and Recreation and the Building Department remain open to the public.
