The U.S. Postal Service is seeking a contractor to run a mail delivery route out of Palmer, according to a SAM.gov notice posted Oct. 15. Offers are due Nov. 2 at 10 am Mountain time, or 8 am Alaska time.

The contract runs Dec. 1 through Sept. 30, 2030, according to the solicitation package.

The route is a 31.3-mile round trip that starts and ends at the Palmer Post Office. It runs along Palmer-Fishhook Road and its side roads to mailboxes and cluster box units, serving an estimated 551 boxes daily except Sundays and holidays. Bidders submit a single annual rate.

Applicants must file a cost worksheet covering vehicles, fuel, insurance and driver wages, along with background questionnaires for anyone who would have access to the mail. A pre-award questionnaire also asks about the past five years of mail-hauling work and the bidder's assets and liabilities.

Bidders may identify as small businesses, defined as having no more than 500 employees, or as minority-owned or woman-owned firms. Neither the notice nor the solicitation restricts who may compete.

Offers from Postal Service employees or their spouses, family or household members cannot be considered until the agency's Ethics Office reviews them.
