The National Rifle Association's national political action committee registered Monday with the Alaska Public Offices Commission for the 2026 election year, according to its entity registration form.

On the form, the NRA Political Victory Fund said it has no involvement in Alaska ballot initiatives. It gave its purpose as "to encourage NRA members and others who recognize the importance of the Second Amendment to engage in the electoral process by providing relevant information about candidates and issues." Treasurer Zac Funderburk filed the registration. Chairman John Commerford leads the fund, and Christopher Zealand, Dan Reid and Gordon Speed serve as trustees.

The fund has already weighed in on Alaska's federal races. It endorsed U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan for reelection in July with an A+ rating, according to Sullivan's campaign, and the NRA announced Aug. 4 that it had endorsed U.S. Rep. Nick Begich with the same rating, saying he would "help stop gun-grabbing legislation in its tracks." The fund reserves an A+ for legislators with an excellent voting record who also make vigorous efforts to promote and defend the Second Amendment.

Sullivan's Democratic opponent, Mary Peltola, has an A on the fund's Alaska candidate grades page. The same group endorsed Peltola in her 2024 House race, as Alaska News reported. The fund has also graded candidates in state races, including the governor's race, Alaska News reported in August.

A third-party campaign finance dataset, Bankrolled, reported fund contributions of $7,500 to Sullivan and $1,500 to Begich, with data through Sept. 30.

The filing comes as national groups spend in Alaska's Senate and House races, as Alaska News has reported. Alaskans vote in the general election Tuesday, Nov. 3.
