Kawerak extends RFP deadline for construction management services in Bering Strait Region

Kawerak, Inc. has extended its deadline for construction management and cost estimation services, giving qualified firms until July 31 to submit proposals.

Kawerak is a regional consortium of federally recognized tribal governments in the Bering Strait Region, headquartered in Nome. The consortium is seeking firms to support its Transportation Program across the region. The scope covers program management, procurement support, stakeholder facilitation, independent cost estimating, risk management, scheduling, design review, and construction support for transportation and infrastructure projects.

Kawerak also issued a separate request for proposals for grant writing and related support services for its Transportation Department. That contract would be structured as an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity agreement to support transportation planning, infrastructure, safety, transit, and community development funding initiatives throughout the Bering Strait Region. Proposals for that request are due Aug. 14, 2026.

Tribal consortia across rural Alaska are managing increasingly complex transportation and infrastructure work, according to regional transportation planning discussions, and often rely on outside technical expertise to deliver projects in remote Arctic conditions.

Proposals for the Construction Manager/General Contractor facilitation and independent cost estimation services must be submitted electronically in PDF format to Transportation Program Director Benjamin Payenna at [email protected]. Non-conforming proposals will be disqualified. The deadline for questions passed June 19.
