Juneau Planning Commission approves second commercial tenant at Clinton Drive Domino's building

The Juneau Planning Commission on Tuesday approved letting a commercial tenant occupy the second unit at 3020 Clinton Drive, a 1,095-square-foot space next to the existing Domino's Pizza.

The approval amends a conditional use permit, which lets a property owner run a use the zoning code does not allow outright if the commission finds it compatible with the surrounding area. Applicant Elizabeth Clayton sought the change. Planning staff described the space as intended for low-intensity commercial uses and found those consistent with the Light Commercial zoning around it, and the commission approved it as recommended. The agenda does not report a vote count.

What the approval does not settle is who moves in. The record identifies a category of use, not a tenant. As Alaska News reported earlier, the commission weighed the second tenant without adding parking, over objections from neighbors.

The commission also approved a preliminary plat for Phase IV of the Chilkat Vistas Subdivision, sought by Michael Heuman, dividing Tract A1 into seven single-family lots and extending Robbie Road, with three lots eligible for accessory apartments. Four conditions apply before the plat is signed: a drainage plan, construction plans approved by General Engineering, improvements completed or bonded, and property taxes paid.
