Indiana firm to replace broken Kenai refuge audiovisual system under $75,173 contract

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center in Soldotna will get its broken audiovisual system replaced under a $75,173 U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service contract awarded to No Limits Audio/Visual, Incorporated, based in Muncie, Indiana, according to the USAspending.gov award record. Work began Sept. 23 and runs through Dec. 11.

The system carries refuge films, environmental education and video conferencing, per the Service's solicitation. Bidding was a small-business set-aside, limited to small companies. Ten bid; the lowest price won. It covers design, installation, staff training, a one-year warranty, and reuse of the existing Draper projector screen and twelve Crestron ceiling speakers.

At a Commonwealth North forum in June, Ross Johnston asked how many federal contracts are fulfilled by Alaska employers versus outside companies. Economist Brett Watson said a recipient's headquarters location can be separated from where work is performed, and does not by itself establish whether Alaska workers do the job.
