Indian Health Service awards Anchorage's Koniag unit $110,693 for a Kansas medical coder

The Indian Health Service will pay $110,693 to Koniag Advisory and Business Solutions of Anchorage to fund one Medical Records Technician and Coder III at the Haskell Indian Health Center in Lawrence, Kansas. Performance on award 75H71126F27018 runs Sept. 30, 2026, through Sept. 29, 2027, in the USAspending record.

It is one of about two dozen IHS staffing orders the subsidiary holds, for clerks, guards, janitors and IT staff, placed against standing indefinite-delivery contracts.

Koniag lists the subsidiary as an 8(a) company. The Small Business Administration says firms owned by Alaska Native corporations are eligible for that program under rules written for them. Koniag's government services arm says: "As an Alaska Native Corporation (ANC), we offer a unique, flexible, and streamlined direct award procurement option to our Government customers."

The award is the second IHS coding order in five weeks, following a three-year, $1,261,920 order issued Aug. 15 to clear a patient-visit coding backlog in the agency's Northern and Southern Tiers.
