HUD awards $85,520 to Anchorage disability housing provider

Anchorage's AASC Housing II Inc. will receive a combined $85,520 from HUD's Section 811 program, which subsidizes rent for very-low-income residents with disabilities between 18 and 61.

Section 811 funds permanent, integrated rental housing where residents can reach voluntary community-based services such as case management and daily-living assistance. Tenants pay 30% of their adjusted income, or 10% of monthly income if that's higher, toward rent and utilities, and a rental-assistance contract covers the balance.

Alaska Housing Finance Corporation manages the program in the state, and the subsidies don't meet demand — Anchorage has planned project-based vouchers paired with a Section 811 grant to expand housing and supportive services for residents with disabilities.
