Homer's library wants a remodel, starting with a $75,000 study

Homer Public Library staff want to remodel the building, adding a dedicated teen room, a meeting room at least twice the size of the current one, a covered outdoor space, more storage and accessibility improvements.

Nothing has been designed yet. The first step is a $75,000 engineering study to figure out what the work would cost; the construction price is still unknown. The library's advisory board takes up the request Tuesday as it weighs what to recommend for the city's list of capital projects, the queue Homer uses to seek state and federal money.
