Homer man charged with stealing two vehicles from a property near Soldotna

A tracking device installed by a Soldotna-area property owner led Alaska State Troopers to two stolen vehicles in Anchor Point, troopers said in a dispatch posted Friday.

The vehicles were taken from a single property near Soldotna on Aug. 5 and Aug. 6, according to the dispatch. Troopers said an investigation found that James Longero, 29, of Homer, stole both vehicles and then sold them.

Longero was arrested and booked into Homer Jail on two counts of first-degree vehicle theft and one count of violating conditions of release. Troopers note that the charges are accusations and that defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
