Free two-day medical, dental and vision clinic set for Sullivan Arena in September

Anchorage residents can get free dental, vision and medical care over two days in September at the Sullivan Arena. No identification and no insurance are required.

Remote Area Medical announced Monday that its free pop-up clinic will run Sept. 19-20 at the arena, 1600 Gambell St. The nonprofit says it "provides free, quality healthcare to those in need" through clinics staffed by volunteer medical, dental and vision professionals. Care is first-come, first-served.

Dental services at the group's clinics typically include cleanings, fillings and extractions. Vision services include exams and eyeglasses made on site.

No ID or insurance required

Remote Area Medical does not require identification, proof of income or insurance. "You do not need an ID, proof of income, or insurance to receive care," the organization says on its patient pages. It reports treating more than 940,000 people since 1985 and values that care at about $200 million through 2023.

The group tells patients its clinic parking lots often open at midnight, and that people arrive hours earlier. Parking and arrival times specific to the Anchorage clinic have not been announced.

The organization also says the clinics are short-term events and not a source of ongoing primary care.
