The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will host its second annual Shaped by Wildlife storytelling night Nov. 13 at the Glenn Massay Theater in Palmer. All proceeds go to the Outdoor Heritage Foundation of Alaska, the department's official nonprofit partner.

The evening runs 6 to 9 pm. From 7 to 9 pm, hunters, gatherers, conservationists and other nature lovers will take the stage to tell personal, true stories about wildlife encounters that shaped their lives, according to a department news release.

The department is staging this year's show with Arctic Entries, Alaska News reported Aug. 25, when it gave Alaskans until Sept. 7 to submit or nominate a story.

Gallery Hour opens the night from 6 to 7 pm. It features wildlife-themed artwork from youth and adult artists, live music from local musician Roland Roberts and fry bread from Bearz Den Delights. Partners with displays include the Alaska Native Heritage Center, Alaska WildBird Rehab Center, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation and the Musk Ox Farm.

The first event, the Division of Wildlife Conservation's inaugural community storytelling night, was held at the same theater in 2025. Burl Dickman, a division education and outreach specialist, wrote in a department account that it featured "community storytellers and artists from across the state," along with one Alaskan living in Arizona.

The foundation handles finances for joint education programs, the department says, letting donations and tuition go directly into accounts that support board-approved programs and budgets.

Tickets and details are posted on the Shaped by Wildlife event page at facebook.com/alaskafishandgame.

The event is open to all ages, though the department warns that some stories may include descriptions of intense wildlife encounters.
