Eye Guys to visit 10 Alaska communities in June for AlaskaCare retiree exams

The Eye Guys will travel to 10 Alaska communities in June to provide comprehensive eye exams for AlaskaCare retirees, according to the Alaska Division of Retirement and Benefits.

The traveling clinic, based in Wasilla, will visit Wrangell, Petersburg, Haines, Skagway, Kake, Glennallen, Gustavus, Valdez, Tok, and Delta Junction between June 1 and June 28, 2026. Appointments are available by calling (907) 376-3917. The exams are covered under the VSP vision benefit included in AlaskaCare retiree health plans.

The WellVision Exam screens for eye health problems including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. The exam also checks for signs of systemic health conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Patients can also discuss day-to-day concerns such as allergies or digital eye strain during the exam.
