Driver ran from Fairbanks crash scene, troopers forward charges

A driver left the scene of a two-vehicle collision at University Avenue and Sandvik Street in Fairbanks on foot Friday, July 24, 2026, before emergency crews arrived, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers responded to the intersection at about 1:42pm.

Passengers in the fleeing driver's vehicle and a witness identified him, troopers said. Troopers tried to reach him without success and have forwarded charges. Charges are accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Troopers did not release the driver's name, the type of charges, or whether anyone was injured. They also did not describe the identification procedures used in this case or any corroborating evidence.

Under Alaska law, drivers involved in a crash must remain at the scene, provide information, and render aid.
