Driver ran from Fairbanks crash scene, troopers forward charges

A driver left the scene of a two-vehicle collision at University Avenue and Sandvik Street in Fairbanks on foot Friday, July 24, 2026, before emergency crews arrived, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers responded to the intersection at about 1:42 p.m. Passengers in the fleeing driver's vehicle and a witness identified him, troopers said. Troopers tried to reach him without success and have forwarded charges. Charges are accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

The case was logged under incident number AK26071643 and posted under the Alaska State Troopers' D Detachment.
