DNR proposes selling Kachemak Bay land near Homer to Alaska Energy Authority
The Alaska Department of Natural Resources posted a preliminary decision Oct. 2 to sell state land near Homer to the Alaska Energy Authority without competitive bidding. The case is listed under ADL 234892. Public comments are due by 5 pm Nov. 3.
The notice describes about 5,805 acres on the east side of Kachemak Bay, roughly 23 miles northeast of Homer.
DNR's Division of Mining, Land and Water lists the proposal as a "public and charitable" sale, a category that lets the state sell land to another government agency without putting it up for competitive bid. A draft mineral order accompanies the proposal, reserving the state's mineral rights on the land.
The available record does not show what the energy authority plans to do with the land. The preliminary decision and draft mineral order are posted on DNR's land sales public notices page, where Homer-area residents and others can send comments to DNR before the Nov. 3 deadline.
