The Drug Enforcement Administration added $296,899 on Oct. 16 to a delivery order held by Anchorage-based Ocean Bay Information and Systems Management, LLC, bringing the total obligated on the order to about $5.58 million, according to the USAspending.gov award record.

The record lists Springfield, Virginia, as the place of performance and does not show how much of the money reaches Alaska. The order was first obligated June 25 and runs from June 27 through June 26, 2027. The amount is what has been obligated, not what has been spent.

Ocean Bay has held delivery orders under this DEA parent contract since 2022, with more awarded in 2023, 2024 and this year.

An audit released Aug. 20 by the Justice Department's inspector general examined four Ocean Bay task orders totaling $20 million under a five-year contract supporting DEA's Diversion Control Program. It found the orders generally produced the services agreed to in the contract but questioned whether the work was allowable and whether it meaningfully contributed to the program.

The audit also found DEA's contracting office 83% understaffed and raised concerns about DEA personnel influencing Ocean Bay's hiring and about monitoring of the company's subcontractor. DEA accepted the audit's 11 recommendations, which cover those task orders and similar service contracts, and had acted on four before the report's release.
