ATF places $10 million more in supply orders with Anchorage's Bering Global Solutions

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives placed two more orders with Anchorage-based Bering Global Solutions, LLC this month: $8,742,865 and $1,284,668, both running Aug. 28, 2026 through Aug. 27, 2027. They are draws on a five-year contract, not a new award.

That contract is a single indefinite-delivery award from September 2023 running to August 2028. Federal records show 24 orders under it this fiscal year worth $15.7 million, and 72 federal orders to the company overall worth $116.6 million.

Bering Global Solutions, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is an SBA-approved Small Disadvantaged Business and 8(a) certified contractor specializing in operations and maintenance of government facilities. The distribution and supply service center work equips ATF's Special Operations Division with clothing, body armor, firearms accessories, and medical and safety equipment.

In 2023, the U.S. Government Accountability Office denied a protest by Aurora Industries, LLC, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, the incumbent contractor, over the award of the underlying contract to Bering Global Solutions. "We deny the protest," GAO wrote in its Nov. 16, 2023 decision. The docket is B-419448.4 and B-419448.5. The contract was set aside for 8(a) small businesses, the Small Business Administration program through which agencies contract with socially and economically disadvantaged firms, and carries a one-year base period with four one-year options.

GAO found that Aurora had added cells to the mandatory pricing chart, which the solicitation expressly prohibited, and had omitted the required total prices for the base and option years. Clarifications could not have cured defects that material, GAO ruled. Aurora was also rated unsatisfactory on technical and managerial approach and on transition plan, so GAO held it would not have been in line for award regardless.

The price on paper was small. Bering Global Solutions was evaluated at $138,572, because the solicitation priced one of each item per year for purposes of price evaluation only.
