Chitina dip net permit holders must report online by Oct. 15

Every household that held a 2026 Chitina Subdistrict personal use dip net permit has until Thursday, Oct. 15, to file a harvest report online, including households that never fished or caught nothing. Households that miss the deadline will be denied a 2027 permit, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game says.

That penalty reaches the whole household. The $15 permit is issued only once per household per year, so one missed report sidelines everyone in it next season. The 2026 Chitina Subdistrict regulations also list a potential $200 fine for failing to report.

The fishery on the Copper River closed Sept. 30 after a season of in-season adjustments, including a 96-hour opening in July instead of the typical 168 hours. The department says timely and accurate harvest reports are necessary to manage the fishery sustainably.

Reports go through the ADF&G Harvest Reporting webpage or the department's mobile app. App users need to sync their report so it actually reaches the department, either by tapping the two-arrows icon on the My Documents page or by swiping down on that page to refresh. Permits returned by mail or by hand will not be accepted.

For help, the department directs permit holders to a local ADF&G office or to Assistant Area Management Biologist Scott Maclean in Glennallen at 907-822-3309.
