TCC names Tiffany Yatlin employment and training case manager

Tanana Chiefs Conference announced Sept. 2 that Tiffany Yatlin has been hired as its employment and training case manager. Yatlin is originally from Vashraii' Koo', or Arctic Village, and spent 17 years as a tribal administrator for her Tribe.

"I'm excited to work alongside my coworkers and see what kind of improvements we can make for Family and Workforce Services here at Tanana Chiefs Conference and keep striving to help our villages," Yatlin said in the announcement.

TCC's planning document cites geographic isolation, limited hands-on training, financial constraints and historical trauma as barriers to steady employment. The program helps Interior tribal members pay for short trainings, gear and first-time union dues, with funding restricted to services aiding full-time employment. It keeps a half-time workforce development specialist in each of 37 remote villages. TCC represents 42 member entities, including 39 villages and 37 federally recognized tribes, across 235,000 square miles of Interior Alaska.
